Privacy policy
PaneMind is designed to organize browsing locally without an application account, cloud database, analytics, advertising profile, or data sale.
Effective August 14, 2026

Scope and Limited Use
PaneMind uses Chrome user data only to provide or improve the user-facing tab, window, Saved, Quick Access, Recently Closed, Usage time, Split, Screenshot, settings, backup, and recovery features described here. It does not use or transfer this data for personalized advertising, creditworthiness, lending, or unrelated purposes.
Chrome tab and window data
For live organization Chrome supplies URLs, titles, favicons, tab and window identifiers, group membership, pinned/active/discarded/audible/muted state, lastAccessed, and related manageable-tab metadata. PaneMind does not read page DOM, form input, keystrokes, messages, or page content for core organization.
Local data PaneMind stores
The local Chrome profile may store window names, Saved sessions and their URLs/titles/favicons/timestamps, Quick Access entries, Recently Closed recovery data, appearance and language preferences, operation recovery state, Usage time settings and summaries, and compatibility metadata. Stable backup identifiers are retained only to preserve import compatibility.
Usage time
Usage time is off by default. If enabled, PaneMind stores hostname-level daily and cumulative foreground duration for the active tab in the focused Chrome window. Chrome idle and lock state stop counting; retention and deletion are user controlled. PaneMind does not infer attention from sound or media playback.
Permissions and request timing
Required permissions support tab and window metadata, local storage, favicons, and the Side Panel. Top Sites, idle, and alarms are optional and requested only when their related feature needs them. PaneMind does not request browsing history, downloads, webRequest, debugger, microphone, camera, clipboard access, or the tabGroups permission.
All-websites grant and one-shot Screenshot
Only after you explicitly click Screenshot for the verified current Split page may PaneMind request the optional all-websites grant required by Chrome for reliable Side Panel capture. PaneMind uses it for one visible-viewport capture of that verified page. The image is held in memory for preview, not captured automatically, not used for another site, and not uploaded.
Saving screenshots and local files
If you choose Save PNG, Chrome creates a local PNG according to your Chrome download settings. Export creates a user-selected JSON backup file; import reads only the file you choose. PaneMind cannot delete copies that you exported, downloaded, moved, or shared outside extension storage.
Retention, deletion, and uninstall
Settings provide Usage time retention, per-site deletion, all-activity deletion, Saved and shortcut management, and backup export/import. Deleting an item removes it from PaneMind local storage. Uninstalling removes extension-owned local data according to Chrome behavior; separately saved files remain under your control.
Website hosting
This public website is rendered and delivered by Vercel. Vercel may process standard connection data, request headers, URLs, timestamps, and operational or security logs needed to deliver and protect the site. PaneMind does not enable Vercel Analytics or Speed Insights and does not add advertising or third-party tracking scripts.
Data sharing and security limitations
The PaneMind extension has no application account, cloud database, cloud sync, analytics, ads, telemetry, remote code, or automatic upload. It does not sell browsing data. Local data is protected by the device, operating system, and Chrome profile; anyone with access to that profile or exported/downloaded files may be able to read them, so no local extension can promise absolute security.
Contact and policy changes
The public support email shown on the Support page is the contact channel for support and privacy questions. Material changes to data use, permissions, or this policy will be reflected on this page with an updated date before the related release is published.
